Nirav Shah, MD

Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon

Dr. Nirav Shah specializes in Total Joint Replacement surgery of the hip and knee. Dr. Shah uses the most advanced techniques, technology, and implants in each surgery he performs. For all primary and most revision (redo) surgeries, Dr. Shah utilizes specialized minimally invasive techniques that have been developed to spare muscles and other tissues from the trauma of surgery.  As the world evolves to utilize advances in technology, Dr. Shah has evolved his practice to utilize the most advanced robotic and computer-navigation platforms for hip and knee surgery.  As a consultant for several implant manufacturers, Dr. Shah has been intimately involved in the development and deployment of some of the newest implants currently utilized in the United States.


Education & Training

Dr. Shah is a graduate of the Biomedical Engineering Program at Columbia University in New York City. Following graduation, Dr. Shah enrolled at Keck Medicine of USC to complete his undergraduate medical training.  A year was then spent in Dallas, TX at Parkland Hospital completing an internship at one of the busiest trauma hospitals in the nation.  Dr. Shah then finished his orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY.  After five years in Upstate New York, Dr. Shah spent one year at the Anderson Orthopaedic Research Institute to gain advanced knowledge of complex hip and knee problems and their solutions. Dr. Shah then joined Center for Orthopaedic Specialists in 2014.  Dr. Shah has spent his time in the San Fernando Valley building the total joint program at Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center eventually becoming Medical Director of the Total Joint Replacement program at the hospital.

Dr. Shah’s Personal Life

Dr. Shah was raised in the Inland Empire and currently lives in Tarzana with his wife and two children.  In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf, eating, family time and eating.

Dr. Shah’s goal for every patient interaction is to foster an environment that is open and inviting for patients’ and their families to have their questions answered so that the end-result is a collaborative effort to come up with the most effective treatment plan individualized for each patient.
