Evan Bachner, MD, FAAOS

Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon

Meet Dr. Bachner. Like many other orthopaedic surgeons, his interests stemmed from athletic injuries in his youth. He enjoys orthopaedics because it allows him to help patients get back to their normal activities. “Before I recommend treatment, I listen carefully, and try to understand patient needs and goals, as part of our thorough evaluation, then explain the problem and a game plan for getting better.”

  • Reconstructive Surgery of Shoulder and Knee
  • Dr. Bachner also sees his patients for their General Orthopaedic needs.

Dr. Bachner, originally from New York, has been practicing in Southern California since 1993. During his career, he has given numerous lectures at local and national meetings, published scientific articles, and authored orthopaedic textbook chapters concerning sports injuries and arthroscopic techniques in shoulder surgery.

“Dr. Fields and I started Center for Orthopaedic Specialists in 2004 with the goal of taking great care of people in a highly professional, friendly, and personal atmosphere.”


Education & Training

Dr. Bachner’s earned his B.A. at the University of Pennsylvania, and his M.D. from Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York. After a surgery internship at North Shore University Hospital, he completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at Mr. Sinai Medical Center in Cleveland, OH, where he was also Chief Resident. Dr. Bachner completed a fellowship in orthopaedic research at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York. He was also a fellow in Sports Medicine and arthroscopic surgery at the Southern California Orthopaedic Institute, where he worked with Dr James Fox, Stephen Snyder, and Marc Friedman.

He has served in several leadership roles in the medical community over the years, including Chief of Surgery, and member of the Medical Executive Committee at West Hills Hospital, Quality Improvement Committee at West Hills Surgery Center, Medical Executive Committee at Specialty Surgical Center, and Governing Board at Ventana Surgical Center.

Dr. Bachner’s Personal Life

In his time away from the office, Dr. Bachner enjoys spending time with family and friends, wine tasting, and many types of exercise including strength and fitness training, biking, hiking, and skiing. He can often be found early on weekend and holiday mornings on the Santa Monica Mountain trails. “I get up early and race up mountain trails with friends,” he says; hikes have included Mount Whitney, many trails in Utah, and Grand Canyon Rim to Rim. He continues to volunteer at Oak Park High School as team physician, which he has done since 1999. He lives in the Conejo Valley and is available to see patients both in West Hills and Westlake Village.
