Leo R. Spector, MD
A native of New England, Dr. Spector was exposed to Orthopedic Surgery at a young age by his father, a well-respected orthopedic surgeon in the Boston area. Dr. Spector earned his Bachelors of Arts degree from Colgate University, where he graduated Magna Cumm Laude with Honors in History.
He returned to Massachusetts where he received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School. After graduating medical school, Dr. Spector remained at the University of Massachusetts Medical School where he completed his Internship and Residency in Orthopedic Surgery. After finishing his residency, he was awarded a fellowship in Spine Surgery at the OrthoCarolina Spine Center.
Having enjoyed their experience in Charlotte, Dr. Spector and his family decided to stay. At the completion of his fellowship, Dr. Spector was offered a position with OrthoCarolina.
Dr. Spector has published articles in the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Spine, and The European Spine Journal. He has presented research at meetings including the Cervical Spine Research Society and the Spine Arthroplasty Society.
In his spare time, Dr. Spector enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter as well as sailing, golfing, and reading.
