John P. Ternes, MD
Dr. Ternes is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and the former chairman of the Orthopedic Department at the Nalle Clinic in Charlotte. He received his undergraduate degree with highest honors from the University of California in Davis. He earned his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, MD, again with highest honors. After an exciting and rewarding tour as a Naval Flight Surgeon, he completed his orthopedic residency at the Naval Hospital in Oakland, CA. During Operation Desert Storm, Dr. Ternes served in Saudi Arabia on the medical staff of the fleet hospital. Prior to moving to Charlotte in 1994, he was the chairman of the orthopedic department at the Naval Hospital in Charleston, SC. Dr. Ternes is dedicated to caring for a wide range of orthopedic problems seen in all age groups. He particularly enjoys treating upper extremity and sports medicine disorders. Dr. Ternes and his wife, Hilary, have a son and twin daughters. He enjoys scouting, woodworking, gardening and playing piano.
