A Charlotte native, Dr. John Gaul is the son and grandson of the founders of Gaul Orthopedic Group, which became Charlotte Orthopedic Specialists (now OrthoCarolina). From these roots grew the intense interest in orthopedics that led him to choose orthopedics as his profession.
Dr. Gaul received his medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, served his internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at Georgia Affiliated Hospitals, and was awarded a prestigious fellowship in hand and microvascular surgery at Duke University Medical Center. He joined the Gaul Hand Center of Charlotte Orthopedic Specialists in 1988 to specialize in hand and microvascular surgery, although his interests also include shoulder and elbow problems.
An avid after-hours computer enthusiast, Dr. Gaul enjoys biking, running and completing projects with his wife and teenaged children.
