Before joining Charlotte Orthopedic Specialists (now OrthoCarolina), Dr. Foster was a member of the orthopedic department of the Nalle Clinic. Prior to moving to Charlotte, he worked as an orthopedic surgeon for 19 years at Central Virginia Orthopedics in Lynchburg, VA.
Dr. Foster received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Virginia. He earned his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. After completing one year of residency in general surgery at St. Luke's Hospital in St. Louis, MO, he completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Barnes Hospital, also in St. Louis.
Dr. Foster specializes in providing care to non-operative patients. He is the co-author and producer of the award-winning instructional video titled Back in Control, which teaches chronic back pain sufferers how to control their pain rather than allowing it to control their lives.
With his wife, Liz, Dr. Foster enjoys gardening, travel and the company of their six children and growing family of grandchildren.
